Description
Details Barcelona is a hotel opened in 2012 in the city of San Juan de los Remedios, the eighth town founded in Cuba, in 1578 by the Spanish conquistadors. It is recognized as the birthplace of Parrandas, possibly the largest and oldest traditional Cuban festival and one of the oldest in Latin America. In the city center (declared a National Historic Monument in 1980), Spanish architecture from the 17th century can still be found almost intact. The Hotel Barcelona is located just 100 meters from the Hotel E Mascotte and shares its location in front of the Plaza Mayor. This square is the only one in Cuba with two churches: “Our Lady of Buen Viaje” and “La Parroquia de San Juan Bautista”. The latter is well-known for displaying 13 beautifully decorated gold altars.
